Apologies if the answer is obvious. I don’t have any Raymarine equipment except an auto helm. So my question is whether the Seatalk input can be used as an additional NMEA 0183 input?
Thanks for help.12/02/2018 at 3:18 am #13908AnonymousTo partly answer my own question. I conclude that the Seatalk port on the A031 probably needs a Seatalk signal, which I do not have. All my instruments are NMEA.
I have gone ahead and ordered the A031 Multiplexer any way. I can probably make do with only three ports worst case scenario. And the price is right.
I think a converter from NMEA 0183 to Seatalk would allow me to use the Seatalk port. And such a converter may be so expensive as to make the whole thing not worth while. It also seems a bit ridiculous to go from NMEA 0183 to Seatalk back to NMEA 0183.
Happy to hear any suggestions or ideas. I’ll report how well I get on once the ice melts here in Canada.
Cheers,
Alan
12/02/2018 at 12:07 pm #13909Thanks for your information. Unfortunately, QK-A031 only convert SEATALK1 messages to NMEA 0183 not the other way.
