One of our customers recently reached out after having some issues with WiFi connection between the Navionics app on their iPad and their A051T Transponder. Our engineers were only too happy to take a look to try to resolve the problem. WiFi had connected with the device however by using iPad automatic set up settings, the iPad had changed the IP address to an unusual sequence.
Checking through Settings->WiFi, and then click the ‘i’ icon which is next to the connected WiFi name, the IP4 address was set up as the followings:
    Configure IP: Automatic
    IP address: 192.168.4. 19
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Router: 192.168.4.1

If you are experiencing similar trouble, use manual settings to set up your device and make sure the 3rd number in the IP address sequence is “1” if you didn’t change the IP setting on our AIS devices. Example: 192.168.1.10.

The settings should show similar as:
    IP address: 192.168.1.10
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.2255.0
    Router: 192.168.1.100

After resolving this issue, the device worked and the AIS messages started showing.

We got another customer enquiry about his Navionics connection via WiFi. The issue he has is the port number has been changed from 2000 to 3333 on his configuration tool. So always click ‘Read’ to check the current setting before jumping on the boat.
