Hi there
If I connect the A028 to my NMEA2000 and to a GPS antenna, but do not connect the AIS antenna, can I use the GPS signal only on my Raymarine Axiom and not the AIS? Do I need to disable the AIS in the A028? The advantage of this over just a standalone GPS is in giving me a spare AIS receiver in case AIS my transceiver breaks.
Thanks
Giles

If there is a GPS antenna connected to your A028, but not an AIS antenna, the A028 will only send the GPS location data to the NMEA 2000 network. The AIS receiver of the A028 doesn’t have to be and cannot be disabled, as there is no AIS antenna connected to it, it won’t receive any AIS data anyway. In case it is required, just connect an AIS/VHF antenna to the A028 and it will send both the GPS and AIS data to the NMEA 2000 network.
Hope this helps.
