Multiple GPS on NMEA

Postby rob59 » Mon Sep 11, 2017 12:57 pm

Hello, I installed a QK-A031 and a QK-A026, the multiplexer receives input from the Seatalk bus, from the QK-A026 and from a Garmin GPS chart plotter.
The problem is how to let the QK-A026 and the Garmin GPS coexist (the are both sending GPS NMEA sentences) since:

1) I need the AIS sentences from QK-A026
2) At the same time I need the information about waypoints, routes, ecc. from the Garmin
3) I need GPS data from one of the 2 sources

The best solution would be a firmware option to disable sending of GPS sentences from QK-A026 on the NMEA bus (so it would be possible to use at the same time the GPS and AIS informations provided on the QK-A026 WiFi connection to feed a tablet).

If this is not possible, is it possible to disable (via hardware or, better, via software) the GPS contained into QK-A026, or to filter the GPS sentences from one input port of the QK-A031?

Thanks, regards.

It looks like QK-A024 is the right part you should have. Unfortunately, the GPS output from A026 cannot be disabled.
As far as we know A026 and other GPS receiver can be co-existing on the system, but you maybe see he position icon wobbly sometimes.

WHY NOT DISCONNECT THE GPS ANTENNA FROM THE QK-A026?
